Eric Thimell - Cadence International
Cadence International's vision is "to exalt Christ in the nations through the lives of transformed military people." With workers in the US and overseas, Cadence serves all US military branches as well as several foreign militaries. They minister to military personnel and their spouses, and use Malachi Ministries with their children and teens. Eric and his wife work at Cadence's headquarters in Colorado. Curt and Vicky Mobley - Reach Global
Curt and Vicky moved to the Czech Republic with their son in 2008 to work with ReachGlobal, the international missions of EFCA. They are currently learning the language and culture and helping the missionary team by leading musical worship at staff prayer days and planning retreats. Both Curt and Vicky will be teaching, Curt at the Evangelical Theological Seminary of Prague and Vicky at the Christian International School of Prague. They will be involved in a Czech church plant and leading outreach programs. Information about ReachGlobal is available at www.efca.org/reachglobal. Brenham Christian Academy
Begun as a ministry of Brenham Bible Church, BCA is now an ACSI-accredited, independent private school teaching grades 3-12 under the direction of Head of School Noel Scoggins. Students at BCA receive a a classic liberal arts education and biblical worldview preparing them for college. They also begin developing strong moral characters and learn Christian service through numerous projects in the community including with Faith Mission, Sandy Creek Bible Camp, Unity Theatre, and New Beginnings Pregnancy Center. Visit BCA at www.brenhamchristian.org to learn more.
Faith Mission
Faith Mission serves members of the Brenham community who have various needs. Faith Mission operates a food pantry and resale shop, provides assistance with utility payments, and works with Jobs Partnership.
Young Life of Brenham
Young Life has programs for middle and high school students in all 50 states and many foreign countries. Brenham's YL is under the direction of Billy Huff, who promises "an hour of zany and unpredicable fun designed wiith you in mind" during club each week. YL also offers Campaigners and camp as well as special activities like their annual skeet shoot tournament. Check out Brenham's group: www.sites.younglife.org/sites/Brenham.
New Beginnings Pregnancy Center
NBPC provides a variety of ministries for Brenham families. Counselors help women, many with unplanned pregnancies, determine if they really are pregnant and understand their options of abortion, adoption and parenting. Women receive free ultrasound exams and health care referrals. However, NBPC does NOT offer or refer abortion services. Women hear messages of hope - hope about the pregnancy and hope in the gospel of Jesus Christ. NBPC also counsels women who have had abortions in the past. Man to man counseling is available for fathers. Classes for men and women include parenting and prenatal care, sex, love and relationships. They earn "Mommy Money" or "Daddy Money" to spend in the adjacent resale shop, which is also open to the public. More information is available at www.brenhampregnancy.com.
Foundation of Love and Hope
A group of professionals began the Fundacion Amor y Esperanza (Foundation of Love and Hope) in 2000 to serve impoverished families in Quito, Ecuador. Ecuador has one of the lowest education investments in South America and high un- and under-employment. Those who have jobs usually receive very low wages. Forty-eight percent of the population lives in poverty. Sixty percent of Ecuador's children are under 5 years old and are undernourished. Through several "projects", the foundation cares for children under age 6, educates children over age 6, and also holds workshops for the community. The projects provide nurseries, dining rooms, schools and children centers. Project Carmen Bajo has classes for kids through 6th grade and is adding a grade each year. The foundation has full time staff and workers, but also has opportunities for short-term mission work year-round. They have more information about their work and mission trips at http://www.amoryesperanza.org/.
